Adventure in Egypt: Journey to the Pyramids of Giza

Leo was filled with excitement: he had flown to Egypt to see the famous Pyramids of Giza! As soon as he stepped off the plane, he immediately felt that this place was nothing like his hometown. The sun shone brightly, and around him stretched sand dunes and majestic ancient structures, inviting him with their mystery. Leo couldn’t wait to start his adventure.

The Pyramids of Giza under a sunny sky

He was greeted by a guide named Mahmoud, whose cheerful voice and broad, friendly smile instantly drew Leo’s attention. “Welcome to Egypt, Leo!” Mahmoud said. “Are you ready to see the pyramids?” Leo eagerly nodded.

When they arrived at the Pyramids of Giza, Leo was awestruck. The enormous pyramids seemed to reach their peaks right into the sky. He was especially amazed by the Great Pyramid of Khufu. “How could they have built something like this?!” he wondered, trying to examine every detail of the stone blocks, carefully stacked like a giant puzzle.

Mahmoud began telling Leo fascinating stories. “Long ago, over four thousand years ago, Pharaoh Khufu ordered this pyramid to be built as his tomb. Huge stones were brought from quarries, and workers labored day and night. Some stones weighed up to 15 tons! They used wooden rollers to move them and levers to lift them.”

Leo listened with interest, imagining how ancient workers toiled, pulling stones, building scaffolding, and lifting the blocks. He thought, “If I had lived in ancient Egypt, how would I have helped build the pyramids?” Mahmoud laughed when Leo shared this thought and said that with his energy, he would have made a great helper!

As Leo examined the pyramids, he noticed that each stone seemed unique. “Why are they all different?” he asked Mahmoud. The guide explained that each stone was chosen and fitted by hand to create a stable structure. “Imagine the precision!” said Mahmoud. “The pyramid has stood for thousands of years!”

As they continued their walk, Leo heard another story — about Pharaoh Khufu and his will, which was so strong that no one dared to challenge it. “They say he even ordered the building of the massive Sphinx statue to guard his tomb,” Mahmoud recounted. Leo looked at the Sphinx with interest, imagining how this structure had been watching over the desert for centuries.

At one point, Leo sat down on the sand to rest and accidentally noticed a stone sticking out from the sand. The stone looked ancient and different from the others. “Mahmoud, can I take it with me?” he asked, pointing to his discovery. The guide laughed, “Of course, if you like it so much! This is your first souvenir from Egypt.” Leo happily placed the stone in his blue bag.

As they reached the end of the tour, the evening sun began to dip toward the horizon, casting long shadows of the pyramids onto the sand. The sunset in Egypt was unforgettable: the sky turned orange, and the pyramids looked even more majestic against the crimson shades.

Leo took a deep breath, feeling joy and wonder fill him. He imagined telling his friends back home about the pyramid, the enormous stones, and the ancient stone he had found. “Maybe this stone is part of an ancient wall?” Leo thought, smiling at his find.

On the way back, Mahmoud suggested Leo write down some notes about his journey in his notebook. Leo took out his notebook and colored pencils and began drawing the pyramids as he saw them — large and majestic. He wrote next to it: “My first trip to the pyramids. Saw the pyramids, learned about Khufu, and even found an ancient stone!”

Back at the hotel, Leo thought about how exciting it would be to continue his journey. “What else can you see in Egypt?” he asked Mahmoud. He told him they could visit the Nile, see ancient temples, and even ride a camel. Leo was thrilled! He knew he would remember this journey for a long time.

Thus ended Leo’s first day in Egypt. He went to bed, thinking about the pyramid, the pharaohs, and the ancient stone that had now become his own little treasure. Many more discoveries awaited him, but he would always remember this adventure.
