Duckling Lucky and His First Rain

Once upon a time, there was a little, joyful, and very friendly duckling named Lucky. Lucky loved to run across the meadow, meet new friends, and enjoy each day to the fullest. But most of all, Lucky dreamed of jumping in puddles. He often imagined how fun it would be to splash around in the water, sending droplets flying, even though he had never experienced a real rain before.

One morning, as Lucky had just woken up and was stretching toward the sunlight, the sky began to fill with gray clouds. Lucky noticed that the whole sky looked different, but he didn’t know what that meant. He waddled over to the field and looked up with curiosity. “Why is the sky so dark?” he wondered.

Just then, his mother, a duck named Lily, came over to him. “Lucky, it looks like it’s going to rain soon,” said Mama, bending down gently toward him. Lucky opened his curious eyes wide. “Rain? What’s that?”

Mama smiled, “Rain is when little drops of water fall from the sky. They water the grass, trees, and flowers, and everything feels fresh and happy. And after the rain, there are usually puddles left behind, perfect for jumping in.”

Lucky was thrilled. He couldn’t wait for the rain to start so he could find out what it was like to jump in puddles. Just as he was thinking about it, the first drop fell from the clouds and landed right on his little beak. “Oh!” he exclaimed, surprised by the cool feeling. But he liked it very much and raised his head higher to catch the next drop.

Soon, the drops began to fall faster and faster, and many little puddles appeared all over the field. Lucky leaped into the first puddle and quacked with joy. The raindrops fell cheerfully from the sky, hitting the puddles and splashing up. Lucky hopped and spun, enjoying every moment. “What a fun rain!” he shouted happily.

Other animals gathered around him to watch as Lucky enjoyed his first rain. Little frogs hopped over from the pond and started jumping alongside him. “Lucky, you’re a great jumper!” they croaked, laughing. Lucky laughed back and jumped even higher.

Then, a butterfly came over and perched on a leaf next to a puddle. She flapped her wings to shake off the raindrops and said, “Lucky, the rain brings joy not just to you, but to all of us! It helps flowers grow and gives butterflies like me freshness and strength.”

Lucky listened and hopped even more happily. He was fascinated by how the rain helped all living creatures, but most of all, he just loved jumping in the puddles and feeling the cool drops on his soft feathers and beak.

The rain continued, and little dewdrops began to appear on the grass, sparkling like tiny pearls. Lucky touched one carefully with his beak and saw it glisten in the light. He felt that the rain was truly a natural wonder. “How beautiful!” he thought.

As the rain began to fade, Lucky noticed the sun coming out again from behind the clouds. Suddenly, he saw something amazing — a rainbow! It was so beautiful and bright, and Lucky gazed at it in awe. “Mama, what is that?” he exclaimed, pointing his beak toward the rainbow.

“That’s a rainbow, Lucky. It appears after the rain when the sun shines on the raindrops in the air. It’s nature’s gift to all who love the rain,” Mama explained, gently patting his head.

Lucky felt like the happiest duckling in the world. The rain had shown him so many new things and brought him so much joy! Now he knew that rain was not just water from the sky but a real adventure and a lot of fun.

Tired but very happy, Lucky returned to his mother, sat down beside her, and said, “Mama, I love the rain. I’ll always look forward to it now so I can jump in the puddles again!” Mama smiled and hugged him, knowing that her little duckling had found his first little happiness in the rain.

And so Lucky’s day ended, filled with new discoveries, jumping in puddles, and joy. Now, he would eagerly await each new rain, knowing that the rain was his friend and that puddles were the best playground.
