Roma and His Adventure with Paper Airplanes

One sunny day, Roma decided he wanted to make not just any paper airplane but the biggest and most beautiful airplane he could create from paper. He imagined how this airplane would take off and fly farther than any of his previous planes. Eager to impress his friends on the school playground, he decided to start right away.

Roma found a large sheet of paper leftover from his art class and began carefully folding it. He crafted the wings precisely, shaping the plane for stability. At each step, he pictured his plane gliding gracefully through the air. When he finished, he had made the biggest paper airplane he had ever created.

Roma ran out to the playground, holding his airplane with excitement. But when he tried to launch it, it immediately fell to the ground. Several more attempts ended the same way. Roma thought, “How can I get such a big airplane to fly?” He knew he needed some help.

Roma tries to launch his paper airplane

His friend Ilya, noticing Roma’s efforts, came over and asked:

— Hi, Roma! Is that an airplane? Why isn’t it flying?

Roma sighed and replied:

— Yes, it’s my biggest paper airplane, but it’s too heavy to take off. I’m not sure what else to do.

Ilya thought for a moment, then suggested:

— Let’s get some of our friends to help launch it together! If we all lift it up and give it enough speed, it might fly.

Roma eagerly agreed, and soon other kids from the playground joined them. They examined the airplane and decided to help Roma launch it. At first, they simply tried throwing it forward, but it still fell. Then Ilya suggested they try launching it from a slight incline to give it extra momentum.

Friends discuss ways to launch the airplane

The kids found a small hill in the schoolyard—a gentle slope that might give the airplane a boost. They all stood around the plane, lifted it up, and began counting, “One, two, three!” On the count of three, they let go, and the airplane glided down the slope.

To Roma’s surprise, the airplane floated smoothly through the air, gaining speed. For a moment, it looked as though it might really fly. After a short distance, it landed, but much farther than it had before. The children cheered, clapping and congratulating each other.

— That was a good flight! — one of the boys said. — But if we want it to go even farther, we’ll have to try something else.

The airplane successfully flies a good distance

Then Ilya had another idea:

— Maybe if we swing it up with more force all at once, it’ll go even farther. Let’s give it a try!

The kids gathered around, lifted the airplane high, and on the count of “One, two, three!” they gave it an even stronger push. The plane rose gracefully, gliding over the playground, descending slowly and covering an impressive distance this time. The children cheered and watched in amazement as it flew farther than they’d expected.

The airplane reaches a long distance with friends' efforts

When the plane finally landed, Roma and his friends ran over, jumping with joy. It felt like a small miracle! Roma felt like a winner—he had not only made the airplane but, with his friends' help, had managed to launch it across most of the playground.

— Thank you, everyone! I could never have launched it so far without you, — Roma said gratefully. — Now I know that with friends' help, you can achieve anything!

Ilya smiled and patted Roma on the shoulder:

— We’re always happy to help, Roma! Now let’s think about what kind of airplane you’ll build next. Maybe it’ll be even bigger!

Roma nodded enthusiastically, already imagining the new models he might create if he kept practicing and wasn’t afraid to try again. He would always remember this day as the time their team managed to make a paper airplane fly farther than they’d ever thought possible.

From that day on, Roma understood that sometimes, the most important thing is not to give up and to remember that with friends, you can accomplish great things. And although the airplane was made of paper, it brought them the joy of a true adventure that day.
