Thankfulness Day: Vanya and Friends Learn to Show Appreciation
Vanya and his friends make thank-you cards for their teachers and parents, learning to appreciate the care and attention of those around them.
One morning, Anna Petrovna announced to the children that today they would be celebrating Thankfulness Day. Vanya, Lisa, and Pasha were surprised, not quite understanding what this meant. Anna Petrovna explained that it’s a special day where everyone can express their appreciation and gratitude to those who care for them. She suggested the children make cards to say "thank you" to their parents, teachers, and everyone who supports and helps them.
Anna Petrovna laid out colored paper, pencils, markers, and sparkly stickers on the table. She explained that each child could design a special card to show their gratitude. The children eagerly got to work, thinking about who they wanted to thank. Vanya decided to make a card for his mom, Lisa for their teacher Anna Petrovna, and Pasha wanted to prepare something special for his dad.
Vanya started by drawing a big red star in the center of his card, adding little hearts around it. He wrote "Thank you, Mom!" in big letters and decorated the card with glitter. He was happy that he could make his mom smile and show her his love. Vanya imagined his mom’s smile when she saw his creation, and he worked hard to make the card as beautiful as possible.
Lisa chose yellow paper and drew a flower to represent her respect and gratitude for Anna Petrovna. She wrote "Thank you for everything you do for us" and added tiny stars to make the card look festive. Lisa felt happy to express her feelings and pictured how her teacher would enjoy receiving this thoughtful gesture.
Pasha decided to draw a picture of himself and his dad walking together in the park. He wrote, "Thank you for always being there for me." Pasha was glad he could thank his dad for all the times they played and went on walks together. He felt that this card would show how much their shared moments and time together meant to him.
As Anna Petrovna observed the children, she praised them for their creativity and sincerity. She explained that gratitude is a gift we can give to others, and it always fills hearts with joy. Vanya thought about her words and realized that being thankful means valuing what others do for us and showing them our appreciation.
When the cards were ready, Anna Petrovna suggested a small “presentation” where each child could show their card and explain who they wanted to thank. Vanya confidently stepped forward and showed his card, explaining that he was grateful to his mom for her care and love. Lisa shared how much she valued Anna Petrovna’s kindness, and their teacher gave her a warm hug.
Pasha proudly showed his drawing, saying that his dad was a real hero to him because he was always there. The children clapped for each other, and everyone felt the importance of saying thank you and sharing kind words.
After everyone shared their cards and stories, Anna Petrovna praised the children and said that this Thankfulness Day was special because they had learned to value what they have and the people around them. She explained that showing gratitude helps make the world kinder and warmer.
Moral: Gratitude is a way to show others that we appreciate their care and attention. When we say thank you, our hearts grow kinder, and the world around us fills with warmth and joy. A simple “thank you” can mean so much, especially to those who are important to us.
