The First Day at Preschool: Vanya Finds New Friends

Little Vanya woke up early in the morning, feeling both excited and curious. Today was his first day at preschool, and the thoughts of how he would spend his time kept him restless. He didn't yet know what it would be like there, but he was ready for an adventure. When his mother said it was time to get up, Vanya looked at her excitedly and shyly asked which children would be in his group and what they would be doing. His mother smiled and replied, "You will definitely make many new friends and play interesting games."

When Vanya and his mother arrived at preschool, he saw a beautiful colorful building with large windows and bright pictures on the walls. It didn't look like a house or the familiar places he had been to before. At the entrance, other children stood with their parents, some of whom had already gotten to know each other and were laughing happily. Vanya looked at his mother and curled up with nervousness, but she gently took his hand and said she would wait for him at the end of the day. "You will have a great time, and when you come back, you can tell me about your new friends," she assured him.

His mother helped Vanya put on bright clothes and hugged him with a smile before entering the preschool. Anna Petrovna, the teacher, greeted them at the entrance. She was very kind and smiling, and seeing that Vanya was a little shy, she approached, extended her hand, and said warmly, "Hello, Vanya! I’m sure you will like it here." Because of her kindness and friendliness, Vanya felt a little calmer. She offered to walk through the group together and see what the other children were doing. Vanya nodded uncertainly and followed her.

When Vanya entered the group, he saw other children playing with various toys, drawing, and building. Some were looking for a playmate, while others were curiously glancing at him. Anna Petrovna called a boy named Pasha and said that he had also recently joined the preschool and might want to play together. Pasha turned out to be a friendly boy who immediately suggested building together with Vanya. Vanya smiled and, deciding to overcome his nervousness, sat next to Pasha. The boys began to build towers, roads, and small houses out of colorful blocks together.

The game was so engaging that Vanya forgot about his nervousness. While they were playing, a girl named Liza approached them with bright colored pencils and suggested drawing a big picture. She brought a sheet of paper, and together they began to draw a forest, a little house, and animals, as if they were all inhabitants of a fairy-tale forest. Vanya felt that next to Pasha and Liza, he could be himself and have fun. And although they were complete strangers at the beginning of the day, by midday Vanya already felt that he had found his first real friends.

The more they interacted, the more interesting it became. Anna Petrovna told the children an exciting story about a brave hare who lived in an enchanted forest and was not afraid of new adventures. Vanya listened with interest and amazement. The story inspired him, and he shared with his new friends how much he loves riding his bicycle. Liza and Pasha also began to talk about their hobbies, and it turned out they had a lot in common.

Time flew by, and by lunchtime Vanya already felt part of the group. At lunch, he sat next to Pasha and Liza, and they chatted happily, coming up with plans for the rest of the day. Anna Petrovna praised Vanya for his courage and willingness to make friends with the other children. Vanya felt proud and pleased that his efforts were noticed.

By the end of the day, when his mother came to pick him up, Vanya did not want to leave. He showed her his first "work" — a joint drawing with Liza and Pasha — and proudly told her how they had played together. His mother was delighted and said that now he could learn something new every day. Vanya was happy that he had gone to preschool and made new friends.

Moral: The first day in a new place may seem difficult and frightening, but by opening up to new friends and events, we learn to enjoy life and discover the world with new colors.
