How a Lemur and a Chameleon Created a Pebble Museum by the Stream
A lemur and a chameleon gather colorful pebbles by a tropical stream, creating a small "museum" and discovering that nature holds amazing things even in simple stones.
On a sandy bank of a tropical stream deep in Madagascar lived a curious lemur named Rico. He loved spending time by the water, watching how the sunbeams played on the surface and reflected off the sand. Rico often found interesting things along the shore: shells, smooth pebbles, and sometimes colorful pieces of wood that the current had brought.
One day, Rico had an idea — to start collecting pebbles. He noticed that they came in a variety of shades and shapes and decided to start a small collection. “Why not create a real pebble museum?” he thought, excited by the idea.
The next day, Rico’s best friend, a chameleon named Charlie, joined him. Charlie was a master of camouflage and loved blending into his surroundings, but he especially enjoyed exploring the world with Rico. His sharp eyes could spot even the tiniest details.
“Hello, Rico!” called Charlie, climbing down from a tree and joining his friend. “What are you up to?”
Rico smiled and showed Charlie a few pebbles he’d already collected. “I decided to start a collection of stones,” he said. “Look at how beautiful they are! Each one is so unique, like a little wonder.”
Charlie looked over Rico’s finds with interest. “That’s a fantastic idea! Let me help you. I know how to find the most amazing stones – my eyes see even the smallest details and the most unusual shapes!”
So their friendly treasure hunt began. Rico and Charlie walked along the shore, carefully exploring every corner to find stones with unusual colors and shapes. Soon, they had gathered a wide variety: smooth white and blue stones, rough green ones, and bright red ones.
“Look, Rico,” said Charlie, holding up a small green pebble shaped like a heart. “It’s as if this pebble was made by nature just for our collection! Imagine how many years it’s been lying here, waiting to be found.”
Rico took the stone and admired it with delight. “This one will definitely hold a special place in our collection! Let’s make a real pebble museum here by the shore so all our friends can come and see it!”
The friends decided to lay out their stones on a large, flat surface that they called the "museum." They arranged the pebbles by color and shape, creating small “galleries” for each type. They had a "Green Gallery" for green stones, a "Red Gallery" for red ones, and even a “Unique Shapes Gallery” for stones shaped like hearts and stars.
Soon, other forest creatures began to visit their museum. A little songbird, drawn by the bright colors, joined them and admired each stone. A hedgehog, passing by, stopped to appreciate their collection, too.
“It’s wonderful that you created this museum!” the songbird exclaimed. “Now everyone can see how nature creates beauty even in simple things.”
Rico and Charlie were proud of their museum. They realized that even the simplest things can be fascinating if you look closely. The pebbles they’d collected had become small treasures, and now every forest creature had the chance to enjoy their beauty.
“Charlie, do you know what’s most amazing?” asked Rico as they finished setting up the museum. “These pebbles have always been here, but we didn’t notice them until we started looking closely.”
“That’s true,” replied Charlie, smiling. “Sometimes you just need to open your eyes, and then you see that the world is full of wonders. It all depends on how you look at it.”
From that day on, everyone who visited the stream could admire the unique museum created by Rico and Charlie. The friends were proud of their project and happy to share their finds with others, realizing that even simple stones can be true treasures if you take a closer look.
