Strawberry Jam: The Cooperative Work of Squirrel, Hedgehog, and Bunny

On a sunny clearing in the forest, where sweet strawberries grew, Squirrel, Hedgehog, and Bunny gathered. There were so many berries that they adorned the grass and bushes around like red beads. The friends admired the strawberries, but Squirrel suggested doing something special.

“Let’s gather strawberries and make jam!” Squirrel proposed, licking her lips in anticipation. “Then we’ll have a delicious treat for the future.”

Hedgehog and Bunny eagerly supported the idea.

“Great idea! But what is jam?” Bunny asked, having never tried jam before.

“Jam is when we take ripe berries, add a bit of sugar, and cook them,” Squirrel explained. “Then we get a sweet delicacy that we can enjoy in winter!”

Bunny nodded enthusiastically.

“I will gather the biggest berries!” he declared proudly and headed to the bushes.

Hedgehog also got to work and suggested:

“I can help Squirrel sort the berries so that only the ripest and sweetest ones go into the jam.”

Thus, each friend found their task. Squirrel, being the most experienced, supervised the process and brought baskets to collect the berries. Bunny, with his usual agility, climbed the bushes to find the brightest berries, while Hedgehog carefully placed them into the baskets, checking each one for ripeness.

Soon the baskets were filled to the brim. The friends decided they had enough berries and could start making the jam. Squirrel built a small fire on the edge of the clearing and prepared a pot for cooking. She began to explain to her friends how important it is to maintain order and caution while cooking.

“Bunny, be careful with the fire, and you, Hedgehog, stir the berries so they don’t burn,” Squirrel said, showing how to carefully add the berries and sugar.

Everyone worked together harmoniously. Bunny passed the berries, Hedgehog stirred them, and Squirrel added some sugar and made sure the jam cooked evenly.

Soon, a sweet and thick aroma began to rise from the pot, filling the entire clearing. The friends eagerly awaited the moment the jam would be ready and couldn’t resist tasting a little directly from the pot.

When the jam was cooked, Squirrel poured it into small jars they had brought along. They looked at the fragrant treat, realizing that they had made it together.

“How beautiful it is!” Bunny exclaimed, examining a jar filled with red jam. “Now we can enjoy it even in winter.”

Hedgehog nodded, pleased with their work.

“Thank you, friends, for helping each other. If we had done this alone, we wouldn’t have finished so quickly and so joyfully,” he said.

Squirrel smiled, understanding how important it is to help one another.

“When we are together, any task becomes more enjoyable and easier. Let’s promise that we will always help each other,” she suggested.

The friends happily agreed, and each promised to always be there to help with any task. They arranged their jars of jam and felt that their friendship had grown even stronger.

Now they had not only a delicious treat but also a memory of the day they made something useful together. And every time they opened a jar of strawberry jam in winter, the friends would remember how they worked together and how important it is to help each other.
