The Secret of the Aztec Gold

Lena, Petya, and their friends stood at the edge of the jungle, which stretched before them like a vast, green sea. Professor Skvorcov, who had studied Aztec culture for years, looked excited. He told the children that hidden in these jungles were the traces of a sunken Aztec city, where unimaginable wealth was buried.

“So, this is where all the legendary treasures are hidden!” Petya exclaimed. “Real Aztec gold!”

“But don’t forget, the search could be dangerous,” warned the professor. “The jungle is full of ancient ruins and secret inscriptions that might show us the way. But we must be careful, because many have tried to find these treasures, and not all of them have returned.”

The group started their journey through the thick underbrush, fascinated by the story of the Aztecs, who, according to rumors, hid their treasures from the conquerors. Soon they discovered the first ruins—stone walls covered in moss and ancient statues resembling gods that the Aztecs worshiped.

“We’re close!” said Lena, carefully examining an image on the stone. “Look, these symbols—they look like maps!”

“That’s right,” confirmed the professor. “These ancient inscriptions might point the way to the sunken city.”

Before they could continue their journey, a group of local villagers appeared before them, eyeing the strangers with surprise.

“You’ve come to find the Aztec gold?” one of them asked, looking at the children with suspicion. “But be careful. The old people say the spirits of the jungle guard the gold.”

“We’ll still look,” Lena replied firmly. “We can’t believe the treasures just disappeared.”

Seeing that the children were determined, the villagers decided to help by sharing additional information about where the gold was last seen.

“It was not far from here,” one of them said, pointing to a high mountain covered in jungle. “Pass through this valley, and you’ll find the traces of old Aztec temples. Perhaps that’s the entrance to the sunken city.”

Encouraged, the children set off in the indicated direction. But the path proved difficult. Soon they found themselves in a dense forest where darkness reigned, despite the midday sun.

“Can we really find this city?” Masha asked, doubting.

“We have every chance!” replied the professor, studying a map they had found in one of the ruins. “We’re on the right track. All we need is focus and patience.”

As they continued deeper into the jungle, they found another pair of ancient ruins hidden in the underbrush. The professor carefully examined the stones and noted with surprise that they were covered with Aztec symbols that might be part of an ancient map.

“These are definitely clues,” he said, pointing to the map. “We’re close to the goal!”

With each step, the children felt their excitement growing. Finally, after a long search, they came to a massive stone portal, which, according to the locals, was the entrance to the sunken Aztec city.

“This is it!” Petya exclaimed joyfully, pointing to the portal. “We found it!”

But before they could enter, the door slammed shut, and they heard a terrible noise.

“We’re trapped!” Lena screamed, but the professor reassured her.

“Don’t worry, this is just an ancient mechanism. I’m sure we can open it.”

With great effort and several attempts, the professor finally opened the mechanism, and the door creaked open. Behind it, they found the treasure that had long been thought to be lost—the Aztec gold. Stones decorated with golden threads lay before them like something out of a fairy tale.

“We found the gold! We’ve solved the mystery of the Aztecs!” Petya shouted joyfully.
