Bunny and the Dream of Flying: A Lesson on the Hill

On a sunny day, Bunny was sitting at the edge of a large forest meadow, surrounded by green trees and bushes, admiring the high sky. In the distance, against the backdrop of fluffy clouds, birds soared, gliding effortlessly through the air as if they were made for flying. Their strong and beautiful wings made Bunny feel as though they could truly reach the sun.

“How wonderful it would be to fly,” Bunny said thoughtfully to himself. “Oh, if only I had wings, I would fly high above the forest, soar over all the fields and meadows, look down on the forest from above, and even reach the rainbow!”

This thought captivated him more and more, and as he sank deeper into his dreams, he could almost imagine himself flying, feeling the wind and soaring above the ground. But soon Bunny decided that dreaming was not enough – he needed to take action! He thought that if he climbed to the high hill at the end of the meadow and jumped from it, he might feel what it was like to be in the air, even if just for a moment.

Bunny set off toward the hill, determined to fulfill his dream. His little legs raced forward quickly, and his heart pounded with excitement – a new, extraordinary adventure awaited him. When he reached the top of the hill, he stopped and looked down: below stretched a vast field covered in soft grass, and in the distance, he could see the familiar bushes where his friends usually played.

Bunny took a deep breath to gather all his courage, closed his eyes, and jumped forward, imagining himself soaring upward. For a moment, he truly felt as if he were in the air, that he was flying… But soon his feet felt the ground, and he landed softly on the grass, without the longed-for sensation of flight. Disappointed, he looked at his feet and sighed.

At that moment, his friends – Squirrel and Hedgehog – noticed him jumping from the hill and hurried over, eager to see what was going on.

“Bunny, what are you doing? You jumped from the hill like a bird!” Squirrel asked in surprise as she sat down beside him.

Bunny sighed sadly and looked at his friends.

“I wanted to fly like the birds,” he replied, drooping his ears. “But I realized I don’t have wings, and I will never be able to fly. I’m just a bunny…”

Hedgehog approached Bunny and encouragingly patted him on the shoulder.

“Bunny, each of us has our own abilities. Birds have wings and can fly, but you have fast and strong legs with which you can jump and run like no one else. Isn’t that amazing?” he said, trying to cheer his friend up.

Squirrel, who loved to jump from branch to branch, also sat down next to him and smiled.

“We’re all different, and that’s great! For example, I can climb trees quickly and leap from branch to branch. And you can run so fast that we can’t catch you. Each of us is unique!” she added with a smile.

Bunny thought for a moment. It was nice to hear such supportive words from his friends, and he felt his sadness begin to fade a little.

“Maybe you’re right,” he said softly, starting to feel a bit more cheerful. “I can run and jump very high. That’s also a special gift.”

His friends suggested that Bunny show them how high he could jump on the hill. Bunny happily agreed and started bouncing joyfully, demonstrating his incredible jumps. Squirrel and Hedgehog applauded him, celebrating his successes and reminding him that each of them was unique in their own way.

Bunny felt joy and confidence returning to him. He no longer thought about not being able to fly. Instead, he enjoyed what he had and felt grateful for having such wonderful friends who would always support him.

When the friends grew tired, they sat down on the soft grass and watched as the birds soared over the field once more.

“See, Bunny, every bird flies in its own way,” Squirrel said, pointing to the birds in the sky. “They all have wings, but they are still different. You are special too, even if you don’t have wings.”

Bunny smiled, and in that moment, he felt as free as those birds in the sky. He knew that he had his own special qualities and that he was important just the way he was.

From that day on, Bunny no longer dreamed of being someone else. He realized that being himself was the best thing he could do. Now, when he looked at the sky, he felt no envy, only joy that each of his friends, including himself, had their own special abilities, and that made their friendship unique and valuable.
