Visiting the Vet Clinic: Vanya and Friends Learn to Care for Animals

One morning, Anna Petrovna announced to the children that they would visit the local veterinary clinic. Vanya, Lisa, and Pasha were immediately excited—they had always been curious to see how doctors for animals work. Anna Petrovna explained that at the vet clinic, sick animals receive help, are treated, and are cared for when they need attention.

When the children arrived at the clinic, they were greeted by Marina Sergeyevna, the veterinarian. She was a kind woman who told the children that they would see how doctors care for animals and even help with some tasks. The children were thrilled and listened intently to every word she said.

First, Marina Sergeyevna took the children to the reception area, where a little kitten with a bandaged paw lay. She explained that the kitten had hurt itself, but now it was getting bandages and would soon recover. Lisa petted the kitten, which started to purr softly. Marina Sergeyevna told them that animals, like people, need care and love, especially when they’re unwell.

Next, Marina Sergeyevna showed the children the examination room. She took a stethoscope and offered it to Vanya so he could listen to the heartbeat of a small dog that had come in for a routine check-up. Vanya excitedly took the stethoscope and heard the soft thumping of the heart. It was amazing and touching; he felt how the dog trusted the doctor and how important it was to take care of animals’ health.

After the check-up, Marina Sergeyevna explained to the children the basics of pet care. She told them it’s important to give animals fresh water regularly, feed them nutritious food, and make sure they always have a clean place to rest. Pasha listened carefully, storing away the advice as he imagined caring for his own puppy.

Then, the children went to a table with an aquarium where a small turtle was swimming. Marina Sergeyevna explained that turtles also need care: the water in the tank must be clean, and the turtle needs light and warmth. Lisa noticed that the turtle was watching them from the water and smiled. Anna Petrovna praised the children for listening attentively and asking questions.

The children learned that animals, like people, sometimes need medicine. Marina Sergeyevna showed them a special syringe for animals and explained that it can be used to give medicine gently, without causing pain. Vanya curiously asked how animals take medicine, and Marina Sergeyevna explained that doctors always try to be very gentle and careful so that animals feel comfortable.

At the end of the tour, Marina Sergeyevna gave each child a small booklet about animals and their health. The children thanked her and promised they would always care for animals. Anna Petrovna suggested they draw each pet they had seen at the clinic, and the children eagerly grabbed their pencils, capturing their impressions of the animals through their drawings.

Moral: Animals need care, attention, and love. When we take care of our pets, they give us their affection and gratitude in return. Kindness and responsibility make us better people, helping us understand how important it is to care not only for ourselves but also for those who depend on us.
