How the Monkey and Lemur Learned to Have Fun with Caution on the Trails of Borneo
After the rain, a monkey and a lemur jump around in puddles in the jungles of Borneo and learn that they need to be careful to avoid getting muddy or slipping.
In the dense jungles of Borneo, where tall trees reach up to the sky and leaves glisten from the recent rain, lived a lemur named Miko and his best friend, a monkey named Lala. They were inseparable friends who loved exploring the jungle together. Each day was a new adventure for them, filled with amazing discoveries and fun games.
This morning began unusually, with a heavy tropical downpour passing over the jungle. After the rain, many shimmering puddles were left along the trails, and the jungle felt fresh and clean, filled with the aroma of damp earth and green leaves. Miko and Lala decided that today was the perfect day to play in these puddles — after all, such large puddles didn’t appear every day!
“Look at these puddles, Lala!” exclaimed Miko, looking around. “They’re so deep and shiny, like little lakes.”
Lala jumped into the nearest puddle, clapping her paws in the water, splashing it everywhere. “Wow! This is so much fun! Let’s jump in the puddles together!”
They started jumping from one puddle to another, laughing and having fun. Puddles were everywhere, and each seemed special to them. In one, the water was clear like a mirror, in another, it glimmered in shades of green, reflecting the leaves. The more they jumped, the louder their laughter grew, as fountains of water flew up around them.
“Look at me!” Miko shouted, leaping especially high and creating a huge splash. Water flew everywhere, and Lala almost fell from laughing when she saw her friend land in the largest puddle, completely covered in mud.
“Oh, Miko, you’re covered in mud!” Lala laughed. “You look like a real jungle mud spirit now!”
Miko looked at himself and began to laugh too, seeing how mud covered his fur. He realized that while it was fun to jump in puddles, it was also easy to get very messy. But despite that, they kept jumping, just a bit more carefully, trying not to land in the deepest mud.
“Maybe we should jump a little more carefully, so we don’t get too muddy?” Miko suggested, realizing he couldn’t go home in such a state.
Lala agreed. “Let’s do that! We can still have fun but be careful about where we jump,” she said, carefully examining the next puddle to make sure it wasn’t too muddy.
They continued jumping, now more cautiously, choosing puddles where the water was clearer. They were curious about how to have fun without getting dirty, and they found a way: instead of jumping right in the middle, they hopped along the edges, splashing water while staying clean.
They even came up with new games: for example, Lala suggested a contest for “the prettiest splash,” while Miko proposed “the quietest jump” to avoid kicking up too much mud. They learned how to enjoy their games while also thinking about how to stay clean and careful.
Finally, tired but happy, they reached a clearing where the sun was already starting to dry their fur. Lala looked at Miko and smiled, “We had such a great time, and now I know how to have fun with caution!”
Miko nodded. He also realized that they could enjoy the fun and nature without forgetting to be careful. They promised each other that next time they’d jump in puddles again, but now with the new knowledge of how to play without causing trouble for themselves or each other.
So their day ended, filled with fun and new lessons they would carry with them for a lifetime. Now they knew that there were many ways to play, and that sometimes being careful is also part of the fun.
