One day, Nastya decided to draw a picture for her mom. She loved drawing bright flowers, butterflies, and sunny skies and thought her picture would make her mom happy. Nastya opened her drawer where she usually kept her markers, but she was met with an unpleasant surprise: all the markers were gone!

Nastya was puzzled. “Where could they have gone?” she wondered. She checked every corner of her room, looked under the bed, checked the bookshelf, and even her toy shelf. But the markers were nowhere to be found.

Nastya sat on the floor, feeling a wave of disappointment wash over her. She had been so excited to draw, but without markers, her plans were ruined. “How will I draw a picture for Mom now?” she sighed, unsure of what to do next.

But as she looked around, Nastya noticed an old box in the corner of her room. She hadn’t looked inside it for a long time and had almost forgotten what was in it. Nastya opened the box and, to her surprise, found some old colored pencils she hadn’t used in ages. “They might not be as bright as markers, but they’re better than nothing,” thought Nastya.

Encouraged by her discovery, Nastya sat at her desk and began to draw. She took a blue pencil and started drawing the sky. The pencil left a soft, light blue trace, and Nastya realized her picture could turn out even more interesting than she had imagined. As she drew with these gentle colors, she forgot about her lost markers and started enjoying the creative process.

She added a sun with rays, small white clouds, and even green trees with leaves. Each stroke brought her joy, and soon her picture was filled with soft tones. Nastya was surprised at how the old colored pencils gave her drawing a warmth and softness she hadn’t expected.

When the drawing was almost finished, her mom walked into the room and saw Nastya working intently on her picture.

— Oh, Nastya, it’s beautiful! Did you draw this all by yourself? — her mom asked, smiling.

Nastya proudly showed her mom her work and explained how she had found the old colored pencils after losing her markers. Her mom praised her for being resourceful and for not giving up on her project despite the challenges.

Nastya realized that losing the markers had led her to a new discovery: with colored pencils, she had created something truly unique. She understood the importance of being flexible and finding solutions in any situation, as sometimes losing something can be the start of something new and special.

From that day on, Nastya often drew with both markers and colored pencils, knowing that each tool could make her drawing special. Her mom hung her first drawing on the wall to remind Nastya of her resourcefulness and her ability to adapt to circumstances.
