Snowball Fight
On a winter day in the yard, Ilya and his friends organize a snowball fight. Despite his fear of losing, Ilya, with the support of his friends, decides to join in and finds joy in playing in the snow.
Winter was in full swing, and Ilya’s yard had turned into a true winter wonderland. White snow covered the ground with a fluffy blanket, trees were frosted over, and the air was fresh and cool. Ilya always loved winter — the season for sledding, building snowmen, and having snowball fights. Today was a perfect day for games: the snow was compact, just right for making strong snowballs.
Kids from neighboring buildings had already gathered in the yard, and everyone was discussing the upcoming snowball fight. Nikita, Ilya’s best friend, approached him with a big smile and asked:
— So, Ilya, are you ready for the battle?
Ilya felt a little nervous. He always worried he might not be agile enough for a snowball fight because his friends were quick and strong. But he really wanted to join in and feel like part of the team.
— I think so, — he replied, trying to hide his nerves.
Their friend Lisa, who already seemed set on winning, came up to them and said:
— Let’s make teams! Are you with us, Ilya?
Ilya nodded. They split into two teams, each choosing a “base” — a snowbank to hide behind — and began preparing for the battle. The kids started making snowballs, stacking them in small piles for easy access. Ilya tried to make his snowballs neat and firm so they wouldn’t fall apart when thrown.
Finally, the signal to start the fight sounded. The first snowball flew past Ilya, and his heart started pounding. He looked over at his friends — Nikita and Lisa were bravely charging forward, dodging snowballs and throwing their own.
— Go, Ilya! — shouted Lisa, encouraging him.
Gathering his courage, Ilya grabbed a few snowballs and aimed. He threw one right at Nikita, who was on the other team, and was thrilled to see it hit the target. Nikita laughed and threw a snowball back, which Ilya managed to catch in midair.
The fight intensified. The kids laughed, jumped, dodged snowballs, and hid behind snowbanks. Ilya no longer felt fear or nervousness; he was completely absorbed in the game. Each time he managed to hit someone from the opposing team, he felt a burst of joy.
Halfway through the game, Ilya sensed that his team was winning. They worked well together, covering each other and defending their base. At one point, Lisa suggested a final attack, and the entire team charged forward, pelting the opponents with snowballs.
When the battle ended, everyone was exhausted but happy. Ilya stood with his friends, laughing and talking about the highlights of the game. He realized that his fear had been unnecessary and that the most important thing wasn’t winning but the fun and support of his friends.
This day became unforgettable for Ilya, and he eagerly looked forward to more winter adventures with his friends.
