Summer Camping: Vanya Learns Camping Basics

On a sunny summer day, Anna Petrovna announced that the children would be having a summer camping event right in the kindergarten yard. Vanya, Liza, and Pasha were thrilled – they had never been camping before and were excited about the adventures that awaited them in nature. Anna Petrovna explained that they would be learning the basics of camping, how to build a campfire, and spending the day like real adventurers.

The children helped prepare the camping area by setting up tents and collecting small stones for the firepit, where they would later build a fire. Anna Petrovna explained that they would need dry grass and small twigs for the fire to catch. Vanya and his friends set off to gather thin, dry sticks they found under the trees, each trying to choose the best ones to help make a good fire.

When the firepit was ready, Anna Petrovna showed the children how to properly arrange the logs for the fire to catch, but reminded them that only adults were allowed to light the fire. The children watched with curiosity as she carefully held a lit match to the dry grass, and soon the fire began to grow. Vanya felt the warmth of the fire and was glad that they had all helped prepare it.

While the fire burned, Anna Petrovna explained that a fire not only provides warmth but is also a big responsibility. She explained that the fire should never be left unattended, and after it’s put out, the site must be doused with water to ensure it’s completely extinguished. The children nodded seriously, understanding that fire is not a toy but an important part of camping that should be handled with respect and care.

Once they were all seated around the fire, Anna Petrovna suggested they tell stories, just like real campers. Vanya went first, sharing about a sports event in the kindergarten where they had a running competition. Pasha added his story about learning to swim this summer, and Liza shared about a walk in the forest with her mom, where they saw real squirrels.

After the stories, Anna Petrovna brought out marshmallows and invited the children to roast them over the fire. Vanya took a stick, placed a marshmallow on it, and carefully held it over the fire, following Anna Petrovna’s instructions to avoid burning it. When the marshmallow turned warm and soft, he happily tried it. Liza and Pasha did the same, laughing as the sticky marshmallows stretched and clung to their fingers.

After the treat, the children decided to draw the nature around them. Anna Petrovna handed out pencils and paper to each child. Vanya drew the campfire with orange flames, Liza sketched the bright sun over the tents, and Pasha depicted himself and his friends sitting around the fire. They all worked on their drawings with joy, inspired by nature and their new camping experience.

When it was time to clean up the camp, Anna Petrovna showed the children how to properly extinguish the fire with water to ensure it was completely out. Vanya and his friends took turns pouring water over the fire, watching the smoke gradually fade away. Anna Petrovna explained that after any fire, it’s essential to make sure it is fully extinguished to prevent a forest fire.
