A fairy tale about how children helped the Spirit of the Sands break an ancient curse and restore a lost city in the heart of the Sahara.

The Mystery of the Desert City — A Legend of the Sahara

In the endless expanse of the Sahara, where the sun scorches the sand and the wind sings its ancient songs, lived a brother and sister — Malika and Said. Their family resided in an oasis, where the children spent their days helping their parents and listening to the elders' stories. One legend said: "Deep in the desert lies a city that disappeared because of a curse. It can be restored if someone finds the Heart of the Sands."

One day, while walking near the dunes, the children saw a strange figure rising from the sand. It was the Spirit of the Sands, his body shimmering with golden light and his eyes sparkling like stars. "Help me," he said in a quiet yet profound voice. "The city I protected vanished because of an ancient curse. Only children with pure hearts can break it."

Malika and Said exchanged glances. "We will help you," Malika said. "But how can we find the city?" The spirit handed them a golden bead that began to glow as they approached the right place. "Follow the light. But be careful, the path will be full of trials," he said.

The first trial awaited them at an ancient caravan route, where crumbling stone statues stood. "The first clue lies here," Said said. They noticed one of the statues holding a scroll, but it was guarded by scorpions. The children crafted a long pole from sticks and carefully retrieved the scroll. It revealed a map leading to the next location.

The map guided them to a dune that appeared ordinary until the golden bead glowed brighter. When the children started digging, they found an old lamp. From it emerged a sand snake. "To proceed, you must solve my riddle," it said. "I am always near, but no one can hold me. Who am I?" Malika smiled: "The wind." The snake nodded and dissolved, revealing the path to the next trial.

The final trial awaited them at an old well where the residents of the lost city once gathered. The water had long dried up, and at the bottom lay a large golden disc — the Heart of the Sands. But as the children approached, a sandstorm swirled around them. "You must prove that you are worthy," the voice of the wind whispered. Said shouted: "We want to help restore the city because every home, every place matters to people." The storm calmed, and the children were able to take the disc.

When they returned to the Spirit of the Sands, he smiled joyfully: "You have found the Heart of the Sands. Now the city will return." He raised the disc to the sky, and the sands around them began to move as if alive. Where there were once only dunes, walls, houses, and tall towers arose. The lost city came to life once more.

"You have accomplished something great," said the spirit, presenting the children with necklaces made of golden beads. "These beads will always remind you of your courage and kindness."

Malika and Said returned home and told everyone about their adventure. From then on, the rediscovered city became a symbol of strength and unity, and the desert winds forever sang songs of gratitude to the children who helped restore what was lost.
